What Keeps us Young?

A month ago I had my first job interview in over twenty years. Although I was a little nervous about it, I did not have that same fear I would have at twenty-two. I felt good knowing that I was going in as myself and if they did not like me, it was okay. What a sheer feeling of freedom! My younger self would have been consumed with worry all the way through the interview. It reminds me of junior high when I walked into the cafeteria hoping to sit with the popular kids.

What keeps us young? Do you know people that are in their seventies and eighties that do not seem “that old?” I do. I was shocked last year to learn my favourite aunt had just turned eighty-nine. It just was not fathomable. How does she do it?

In observing my aunt and uncle, I have learned a lesson about staying young. In order to be young, we must continue to learn, be curious, ask questions, and discover. Challenging our brains by reading and by doing puzzles has been proven to keep our brains healthier. We keep opening up new pathways. Engaging in new activities, such as learning a new skill, helps us maintain our verve.

Self acceptance and engaging in meaningful activities is important for all people, regardless of age. Think of someone you know that you consider beautiful. What is it about them that seems beautiful to you? Is it merely an attractive face or does it go deeper?

Sometimes we look older than we feel. Sometimes when we look in the mirror what we see is not what we feel on the inside, for some people this does not bother us and accept ageing for what it is…inevitable. However others want to do everything they can to try and look as young as possible and resort to all kinds of treatments and skin care regimes. At the far end of the scale you have cosmetic surgery with clinics like http://www.cosmeticsurgeryconsultants.co.uk which some feel is far too drastic and not worth the risk while others think the risk is worth it.

Many people all over the world fear the worst if a dentists, specialist practitioner or emergency dentist advises tooth extraction or a cosmeticdentistryguide.co.uk/articles/root-canal.html. There is absolutely no reason to fear the procedure of tooth extraction if an appointment is made with a professional clinic with either a qualified dentist or ideally an oral surgeon. It is common that patients can be referred to hospitals for tooth extraction. This is to ensure safety in regards to other medical conditions and also allows the patient to be monitored more closely under anaesthetic.

All oral surgeons are required to attend thorough training courses that cover both theoretical and practical aspects of the procedure. During these courses they are also trained to use the most modern and effective tools and equipment. In addition to the reassurance of reliable equipment for the dental practitioner or specialist patient safety is always paramount. Dentists in Nottingham believe in offering the safest service as fast as possible as they understand the procedure of tooth extraction is uncomfortable enough without any additional unnecessary discomfort. When tooth extraction is advised it is usually an urgent case. This means that there may not be time to get to discuss your concerns with a dentist or advisor.

Therefore, it is recommended that if you do have fears of any treatments that you discuss them early on at your regular check up. A dentist or hygienist will be happy to discuss how to overcome fears and perhaps how you can avoid needing the treatments that you feel anxious about.  No question is too simple for a dentist. Dentists need to cater for such patients to prevent dental guide to practice sales leaflets from appearing; this is an important clientele. Dentists are happy to give advice on anything from what toothpaste suits your teeth best to complex dental procedures to purely cosmetic treatments that are wanted at leisure. Remember all practitioners and specialists have been trained to deal with your enquiries in a professional manner.

Primary infertility is the term used to describe couples who have never ever conceived after having unprotected sex and primary infertility is often diagnosed after one year of regularly trying to conceive.

Primary infertility leave couples unhappy and is often not as recognised because the couple already have children and want more children however it is just as upsetting and difficult time for couples. It is important to note that that if you are trying to conceive a baby a healthy diet should be maintained and treatments such as laser hair removal or laser tattoo removal may need to be avoided.

Primary infertility affects women as sometimes the egg will be unable to attach to the uterus lining and the woman may be unable to produce eggs due to clotting disorders or heavy alcohol use.  There are many treatments available for primary infertility such as IVF and artificial insemination which can aid in treating infertility by increasing the chances of conception. Other options include adoption and fostering which enables the couple to provide a home for the baby as well as having a baby they have always longed for.  Many couples choose to foster or adopt children if they are diagnosed as being infertile.

Veneers and what to look for in a dentist

Many London dentists include veneers in the list of services they offer, simply put a veneer is a cover which is put over the tooth in order to improve the appearance, shape, colour, cover gaps or breakages or just for a brighter, more even smile.

The first step is to administer a local anaesthetic but the dentist will have experience from dental courses on this and then reshape the teeth using a drill so that they have the best possible fit for your veneers.  Then a mould of your teeth is used as a template to fabricate the new veneers which will sit over them.  This can take anywhere from one week to three so your dentist may or may not give you temporary veneers in the meantime to protect your teeth which have been reshaped.  Once they’re ready you will be called back into the dentist’s so that they can put the new veneers in, see how they look, then when they’re happy with the fit and appearance and have made any adjustments they might think need doing, they’ll roughen and score the surface of your teeth, put in dental cement and affix your shiny new veneers.

Most veneers, (depending on what materials you choose from what your dentist offers) should take five to ten years after the dental job before they need replacing by the dentist.  There are loads of options and brands out there so see what your choices are, you’ll want the best possible appearance if they’re going to be in your mouth for the next decade.

A lot of women believe that they just hate their bodies. They do not like the way they look. They compare and vision the models with perfect bodies. Every woman has their own perfect imagination figure that they want to be and this creates a massive feeling in them to get their ideal figure through cosmetic surgery.

These days it is a craze to get a quick fix through breast reduction surgeries and other cosmetic surgeries. Doctors say that women who go through such an emotional turmoil throughout their lives due to a bad body image, must first focus to get out of the imaginary realm that they have created in their lives.

Breast augmentation surgery and other cosmetic surgeries can be a way out, but what if their obsession about the perfect body image changes with time. This will mean more surgeries. With this, they will be putting themselves in more danger that not poses serious health risks.

The plastic surgeons who are taking history from their patients must also realize the fact that they should get psychiatric history as well to be sure that the individual they are going to operate on is not suffering from any serious mental issues. For this reason, they can take their patients in confidence and tell them that they have found certain areas where they would need counseling.

After successful counseling sessions, which the plastic surgeon will be updated about, the patient can then undergo either breast augmentation surgery or any other cosmetic procedures of their choice.

Note: It is an important fact that the underlying psychological aspects are treated before undergoing the breast augmentation surgery.

Most people can’t stand the idea of chunky metal braces on their teeth, and a surprising number of people just live with crooked teeth rather than getting them fixed at the dentist. But you don’t have to just put up with your twisted teeth, there are other options out there that are not quite as poisonous to your social life as traditional fixed braces. 6-month smiles has recently arrived in the U.K, brought over from America. I went to a dentists in Reading for the 6-Month smiles system because I was sick of my jagged smile, and now my teeth are almost perfect.

6-month smiles is a dental system similar to traditional braces, but a whole lot more effective and socially-friendly. Unlike the usual horrific ‘Ugly Betty’ braces, the 6-month smiles braces are hard to spot, and almost completely hidden against your teeth. The brackets and wires that make up the braces are white, and don’t stand out so obviously, so people rarely noticed I even had braces. Instead of being stuck on my teeth for years, the 6-month smile system took only 4 months to work for me, and now my teeth almost look like veneers. The prices might vary for you, but I spent just over a thousand pounds on the procedure, quite a lot less than normal metal fixed braces might have cost if I had chosen them instead. Ultimately, fixed metal braces were never an option for me, I could never go to business meetings and face clients with a mouth full of metal.

Dental implants; the best way forward in false teeth innovations

Dental implants are a breath of fresh air in dentistry innovations. If you can’t get on with dentures or a bridge then this method is just for you. Devised through over 10 years of research in the U.K. and Sweden the latest and most popular design is the Endosteal Implant, it can handle a single or several false teeth. You will need to pass some tests first, and these will be carried out by your dentist before a dental surgeon will carry out the work. Firstly they will take a series of digital x-rays and pictures, along with some measurements, if the tooth is still in place it will have to be removed. You will need to have a strong, wide jaw bone to qualify, but don’t worry as most of have one. All being fine the surgeon will now start, first they will cut into the gum line and expose the jaw bone, its just a small cut so there’s no need to wince. The implant is slid under the gum and either screwed down using self tapping screws, or they will drill holes and insert an adapted plate that has studs to fit in them, this is glued in. The stitches are tiny and the area is left for nature to take her course, this is a process called Osseointergration and came out of the experiments in Sweden. Basically the jaw bone fuses with the titanium implant (plate) and it becomes part of the jaw. The process takes from three to six months to complete. The next stage is to insert the abutments; these are studs that will hold the actual false tooth. The tooth is now ready to be made and an orthodontist will make it from ceramic in the same vein as the origin tooth in size and shape. This is then simply slid onto an abutment, or several teeth can be fixed to one implant depending on your requirements. They will last you a lifetime and are easily replace if they become damaged in situ. They need no special looking after and brushing and flossing is done just as normal, your dentist will keep the tooth implants clear of any tartar build up when you go for your six monthly check up. You will need to retrain your mouth to adjust to the new chewing regime that your new teeth will allow you to perform. It will restore not just your teeth, but your smile as well.

The number of weight loss surgeries performed every year have grown tremendously. Women make about 80% of the total weight loss procedures. The age range in which the women are going through bariatric surgery is 18 to 45 years. A lot of women who are of the reproductive age ask the question that when they should attempt pregnancy if they want to go through the weight loss surgery.

This is a very important question. The answer to this question depends on the weight loss procedure that you are going through. If you are undergoing gastric band surgery, then that means you can safely attempt pregnancy after a period of six months. On the other hand if you are going through invasive procedures such as gastric bypass, gastric sleeve or duodenal switch procedures, then it would be advisable that you wait for a period of at least two years.

After the invasive surgeries as mentioned above, there is an increased amount of weight loss. With more invasive procedures, the weight loss occurs for a longer duration of time. Therefore it is advisable that women who are undergoing the invasive weight loss surgeries must not attempt to become pregnant for at least two years. This is also known as the safe period.

A lot of woman ask whether they would have to undergo C-section after having weight loss surgery. Women undergoing the invasive weight loss surgery normally do not need to undergo through C-section, but it is important that they talk with their gynecologist/obstetrician to know what will be best for them and should also let them know about their decision as well.

Note: Please consult your physician before attempting pregnancy.

Brushing

Brushing your teeth twice a day helps maintain oral hygiene. It cleans out most of the food residues that serve as a major seat of oral infections and plaque buildup. Sealant is a protective layering that covers the groove and hard to clean areas of your teeth. This coating protects teeth from erosions, infections and a lot of other dental problems. It is advisable that you visit your Reading dentist and have his or her recommendation
